We Could All Be A Bit More Focused -- A Response to Radio One/92 Q Jams

Baltimore Blogger Bites Back

Attorney Taylor;

A short moment ago I just completed an interview with a local TV news station that contacted me regarding this situation.

It is with deep disappointment and disgust I write this letter, as a response to exaggerated allegations of copyright infringement and their accompanying legal threats.

As noted in your email, what got your attention was our story on a very sensitive situation that has stirred the emotions of many, not just in Baltimore, but all across the nation.

During a time in this country when race relations appear severely strained, and we have opportunity to learn vital lessons, it is particularly troubling that a black owned corporation would seek to intimidate a black owned and operated, community based, non profit news and information service.

Having been involved with radio in one capacity or another for well over 20 years, this situation to me embodies all that is wrong with corporate ownership and take over of local stations and mega conglomerates in media.

Despite having had a professional business relationship with Radio One Baltimore for the past seven years, I can assure you there is no attempt to even remotely imply affiliation to 92 Q Jams via a black and white photo that happens to have their logo in the background.

As a corporate officer in a different city, it is conceivable you have no idea that I have been in and out of Radio One Baltimore studios countless amounts of times over the years. As a guest, as a host, as a guest host and of course as a caller, my voice has actually been heard on all of the Radio One Baltimore Stations. Numerous times. Honestly, the listeners are well familiar with me and would know me upon hearing, even without my name being announced.

I consider everyone in the building friends.

At times when personal conversations or discussion on social media have involved pointed -- and well founded -- criticism of the stations, their programming or policies, I have chosen to refrain from involvement or comment. Naturally, at this point, all this has changed.

Curiously, it appears the Baltimore station cluster hasn't been doing very well in the ratings. Perhaps if Radio One focused more on creating quality content and programming and being a valued contributor to the community this wouldn't be the case. That's what we plan to do here. I hardly think pouncing on a blogger fits in line with this.

Also it is my understanding in general, from a corporate and shareholder point of few, the current financial condition of Radio One at large is somewhat less than enviable.

Although the accompanying text makes independence clear and states no affiliation,, apparently there has been some confusion.
At this point the mission and message of 92 Q is hardly something we want to be affiliated or associated with at The Baltimore Spectator and MacArthur Media Group. It just doesn't fit with the demographic we're aiming to reach.

Going forward, the offending picture in question, as described in your message, will be altered so as not to display the logo. There is far more important work to be done here, than deal with out of touch, out of town, disconnected, corporate radio executives.

Honestly, we should thank you for pointing out and reminding us of the logo's presence.

Best Regards;

MESSAGE TO ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT/INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES

To all those who willfully, deliberately and routinely violate the civil rights of law abiding American Citizens; Yes, you're powerful. Sure, you're everywhere. But this is still America, and the Constitution of the United States Of America still reigns supreme as the law of the land. The Baltimore Spectator will vigorously and aggressively defend against any and all attempts at spying and suppression. Let it be known to all that we are already aware of the regular monitoring and shadowing attempts. There is nothing to hide, but cross the line and there will be hell to pay.

In the end, efforts to impinge upon the freedoms of the people will ultimately fail. Some of us may get taken out in the ongoing battle for true and lasting freedom, but as I've said many times before, and will say till the day I die or get taken out by you goons, THERE ARE MORE OF US, THAN THERE ARE OF YOU.
